U18s Vixens turn it on

Vixens pack a punch in a fine win over their local adversaries Old Northamptonians and Oundle with a convincing win 37 points to 5 victory.

A strong performance from the Vixens forwards enabled the backs to produce a devastating performance scoring all 7 tries.

Huge performances from forwards Jenna Abbott, Kayti Bowler, Lucy Judd and Nelly Vavasour with great pick up and drive, strong rucking and passing out of the tackle.

Vixens dominated the scrum allowing Hannah Smith to feed fly half Sophie Barnett who in turn encouraged the backline to attack at pace.

6th February 3rd team match report.

The 3rds hosted Northampton Old Scouts 3rd team this week. The sides were evenly matched but had to play uncontested scrums as the visitors could not field a specialist front row. Both teams tried to keep the ball in hand and Harborough had to tackle well but the breakthrough came when Leon Jackson received a pass 40metres out and weaved his way through the opposition to touch down with Wade Cox converting. The lead did not last long as Old Scouts came almost straight back to score their own converted try. As the end of the half approached, Ben Wade latched onto the ball and sprinted for the line, leaving the opposition trailing and touched down in the corner to give the lads a half time score of 12 to 7.

The weather was getting more murky and dull but the lads were determined not to lose their lead and whenever Old Scouts threatened the line, they put in try stopping tackles. Harborough were trying to play attacking rugby and a lovely break by Luke Bishop was rewarded when his pass to Chris Smith led to Smith scoring Harborough’s third try of the day. A good team performance from the Harborough lads.
