Leicestershire Under 13’s County Cup

Market Harborough RFC Under 13’s booked their place in this years county cup final with an emphatic win over Hinckley in their semi final match ( Sunday 7 Feb ).

In a hard fought match away at Hinckley, a close won battle between the two packs of forwards, and a masterclass by their backs, the Harborough came away with a 64 – 12 win .

Harborough opened the scoring early on in the match when Fred Highton crossed the line after repeated pressure from the forwards. Hinckley quickly replied with a converted try to make the score 5 – 7 within the first five minutes. This early reposte galvanized the Harborough side into action and they started to play the open expansive game that has become their trademark. Joel Nance crossed the line and a converted try from fly half Groves redressed the balance 12- 7 in Harborough’s favour. Then through out the first half hooker Tim Waterfield scored and winger Charley Gilbert scored twice all converted by Groves to make the half time score 33 – 7.

Hinckley regained their composure and early in the second half their wing crossed to make the score 33 – 12. Hinckley’s resolve then disappeared after an onslaught from the Harborough side with scores from Hopewell ( 2 ), Groves ( 2 )  and the try of the match coming from the superb running lines and pace of inside centre Joe Margetts with three conversions from Groves to make the final Score 64 – 12 to Harborough who now await their opposition in the County Cup Final.
